Joie de Ski: New Chalets in Mont Tremblant, Quebec
Elegant chalets a welcome rest after slope-side, nighttime activity

Mont Tremblant is a stylish alpine village nestled in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec, about an hour north of Montreal. It's now the number one ski destination in Eastern Canada and draws a mixed crowd of international jetsetters, sophisticated New England ski bums and a smattering of locals. We're happy to announce Mont Tremblant as Luxury Retreats' newest destination.

With almost 100 runs, 13 lifts and four distinct mountain faces to discover, Mont Tremblant can spoil skiers and snowboarders from beginner to expert. Its 2871-foot elevation dominates a classic boreal-forest landscape that is blanketed with bucketloads of snow every winter, adding cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skidooing, dogsledding and tubing to the endless list of things you can do here.

But Mont Tremblant's attributes are just as much about what sits at the base of the mountain. Its village, recently expanded and designed to resemble a cozy European-style town, is a hub of activity. Like the attitude of this region's people, its atmosphere is friendly, fun-loving and stylish, comparable to the Greek Islands (just replace the beaches with snow). There are après-ski options for the romantic restaurant and lounge crowd as well as all-night partiers.

After the celebration, lay your weary body in one of our private Mont Tremblant chalets. Offering ski-in/ski-out convenience and quiet, elegant accommodations in the midst of all the action, these homes are a great option for families, couples or even groups of friends wanting to stay together. All of our chalets are designed for comfort—necessary after long days on the slopes—but feature luxurious finishings to keep your holiday sophisticated. Hot tubs, wireless internet, marble details and multiple fireplaces are common.

A few of our newest additions:

Altitude 166-1
:
Sleek five-bedroom chalet with office, steam room and great lake views.

Equinoxe 142-3
:
Classic chalet architecture and a deluxe kitchen sets this home apart.

Panache 633
:
Twelve people can stay and gather in its living area, with cathedral ceiling and fireplace.

Panache 764
:
Heated wood floors keep your feet toasty at this four-bedroom chalet; the eight-person hot tub can also do the trick.

Apart from its own attractions, Mont Tremblant benefits from its proximity to the city of Montreal. An easy drive takes you from the hill to the world's second-largest French-speaking city (after Paris), a romantic metropolis with lots to do, see and eat. Visit its museums, do some shopping, try its international cuisine or just spend some time strolling the cobblestone streets of its Old Town. A day trip into the city is a great way to make your ski holiday an eclectic cultural experience.

The People Have Spoken

Conde Nast readers ranked Mont Tremblant among its top ten favorite Ski Resort for 2006, beating out such favorites as Breckenridge, Colorado and Lake Louise, Alberta. If only they took the summers into account, too: Tremblant is a true four-season destination and its park teems with trails, rivers and lookouts to explore when the weather is warm.
