Top Five Ways to Keep Busy in Cabo
By Heather Whipps
Located on the nail-tip of Mexico's Baja finger, the town of Cabo San Lucas juts into the Pacific Ocean like somewhere you're just meant to stop. And some people do stop here altogether, preferring to do nothing but relax and enjoy the consistent Mexican sun. But Cabo San Lucas isn't cut out for loungy holidays alone; what it does best, in fact, is keep people busy from morning until night. When you rent a villa in Cabo San Lucas with a large group of people (and there are plenty of luxurious, bigger homes to be had), there are so many activities that everyone can create their own, distinct itinerary.
Here are our suggestions for the five best ways to keep busy in Cabo…pick and choose as you please:

Cinco: Surfing
The water surrounding Cabo San Lucas—a churning blend of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez—can sometimes be a bit rough. But that is music to the ears of surfers, who flock to Cabo's shores for some of the best wave-riding around. As a bonus, the water is always warm and Mexican food is an easy way to refuel.

Cuatro: Shopping
A serious shopper can turn the activity into a sport and Cabo San Lucas is well-suited for this kind of retail workout. There are the ubiquitous discounts on luxury goods here, but also some crafty gifts unique to Cabo that make for great souvenirs. Woven blankets, handworked leather and ironwood are all regional specialties.

Tres: Golf
Cabo San Lucas area has become the golf capital of Mexico, blessed with year-round play and great scenery to backdrop the holes. Visitors to the area have the luxury of both quality and quantity to choose from. Dos: Deep-sea fishing
Cabo San Lucas is surrounded by deep seas and a whole lot of fish. You do the math. The tour operators have, turning the area into a veritable heaven for experienced fishermen and casual sea-goers alike. With picnics, drinks and potential whale-sightings included, we can arrange a day out on the water you won't soon forget, whether you take home "the big one" or not!

Uno: Nightlife
Cabo San Lucas hasn't quite shaken its reputation as Mexico's party central, though the nightlife has been significantly refined over the years into the classy, hip place it is today. Start with a great meal at one of its gourmet restaurants and then the night is your oyster: options include casinos, beach bars and bumping clubs. It's the quintessential way to top off a busy day in Cabo San Lucas. You can sleep in tomorrow.
Where to Stay: Casa Luca, Casa Punta Vista
Mid-Week Booster When you get worn out from a couple of days of activity in Cabo San Lucas, it's smart to mix in some relaxation and pampering to recharge. The spas here are top-notch and though most are located within resorts, they are usually open to outside visitors. Try a native Mexican treatment to really get into the experience. |
