Feelin’ Hot Hot Hot!: New Villas in Warm Places
Heat up your vacation with a stay at one of our newest villas
By Heather Whipps
Some destinations shine year-round, literally speaking, with sizzling temps and a deliciously scorching sun present 360 days out of 365. You’d be hard-pressed to conjure up a wasted grey day on vacation in Acapulco, for example, even with the most practiced of rain dances. Others, like Greece, pack a wallop of heavenly heat in a few months’ span, twisting your rubber arm to sojourn there according to the season’s schedule. Either way, planning beach holidays around the inconveniences of the Earth’s tilt can be daunting... all the more reason to get organizing now, before the sunny windows of opportunity slam shut.
Just thinking about your vacation break now? Best get cracking, because many sun seekers have filed those dates away and are already penciling in their plans for October to December 2006. To help you get started, here’s a selection of our newest villas in our hottest destinations:
Acapulco, Mexico
Acapulco has been photographed and sung about for decades, a perennial favorite whose crescent bay is the star attraction. With new restaurants, clubs, sports, and things to see, it is ever-changing in order to offer visitors something new each time they settle in for a visit. Some things remain constant: Acapulco’s energetic nighttime pace tempered by sultry days, where a stretch out on the beach or cool drink by the pool is more than enough activity in the Mexican heat. Gaze at the amazing coast line from your poolside deck chair at Casa la Piedra, an elegant 4 bedroom luxury villa. One of the most unique villas in our entire collection, Casa Iguana is built right into a cliff face overlooking the water. Guests of the sprawling seven-bedroom villa are well-served by an elevator that takes them from the top level entrance down to the bedroom suites and living areas. The villa includes a full staff and private beach.

Greece
Greece is one of Luxury Retreats’ hottest destinations, and we don’t mean just the weather. Full of island-hopping glamour and a charm cultivated through 2500 years of history, it is a place that beckons especially with those warm salty breezes blowing off the Mediterranean. The island of Paros embodies the spirit of a hot summertime locale with fine beaches and a lively waterfront capital. Explore the island’s attractions with a stay of Villa Orestis or Villa Daphne, two three-bedroom villas in a lovely, traditional complex near the capital. Also new is a gorgeous selection of villas on Greece’s largest island, Crete; sample the relaxing atmosphere at the 2 bedroom Executive Spa Villa or soak up the romance of Villa Stella’s 4 bedrooms and panoramic views.

French Riviera
There’s hot, and then there’s movie star on the beach hot. The French Riviera is the latter, a destination constantly speckled with the rich and famous from Hollywood and Europe’s glitterati. Beaches, historic villages, and wild nightclubs line the winding coast from St-Tropez to Monte Carlo, with homes like Villa Panorama dotted in between. This 3 bedroom home in Eze-Mer has stunning views of the Mediterranean and is a comfortable base from which to visit the Riviera’s fabled sights.

Hawaii
If it’s sun, beaches and an exotic atmosphere that you’re after, the Hawaiian Islands are the place to be. One of our most recent additions on Oahu is Villa Soluna, a stunning 5 bedroom oceanfront villa within walking distance to two of Hawaii’s most beautiful beaches, Kailua and Lanikai. For a truly sumptuous Hawaiian getaway, few places compare to The Sullivan Estate, also on Oahu. This lavish 6 bedroom property features all the amenities of a 5 star resort in private and secluded surroundings including a 12-person Jacuzzi, the perfect spot to watch the sun set.

Costa Rica
An eco-adventurer’s secret no more, Costa Rica is a steamy patchwork landscape of tropical rainforest and deserted beaches. Waking to the call of the native howler monkey and strong cup of Costa Rican coffee, you’ll understand why hikers and kayakers return here year after year. Besides the natural beauty, the country’s man-made accomplishments include the luxury villas tucked within. Stay at La Paila, a three-bedroom plantation estate in the beachside mountains, if you prefer an authentic experience. Alternatively, Palacio Tropical is a brand new, eight-bedroom villa on the beach. Both include full staff and private pools.

TOO HOT TO HANDLE...
The sun in the world’s best hot weather destinations feels so good for a reason. It is very powerful, so covering up and using plenty of sunscreen is necessary to prevent burning. Always use an SPF of at least 30 and reapply regularly! |
