New Villas: Tap Into the Spirit of Morocco
Sumptuous vacation homes are destinations in themselves
By Heather Whipps

Most Moroccan riyads are located within close proximity of the main towns and allow you to really immerse yourself in the vibrant culture and lifestyle of this place. Then, after a long day strolling the market and haggling over delicate rugs and spices, they’re a luxurious respite you can really kick back in. And your Moroccan hosts, renowned for their hospitality, will not disappoint.

Here’s a sampling of our newest villas in Morocco:

Riyad Al Moussika
Once belonging to one of the city’s ranking officials, this palatial riyad is a sanctuary amidst the frenzy of central Marrakesh. From here you’re just a five minutes’ walk to the main town market, but you’d never know it standing in the peaceful garden courtyard. The main living areas and 6 bedrooms encircle this area, which also confines an Andalusian-style pool. Rental of Riyad Al Moussika includes a full staff, including several cooks and attendants. Villa Mberrada
Somewhat less frenetic than the city-center of Marrakesh, the suburban Ourzazate area hides this villa, a large 7 bedroom home combining elements of the traditional and modern. The villa’s location affords a sprawling territory dotted with citrus groves and back-dropped by views of the Atlas Mountains. Relax by the pool or in your tiered Moroccan lounge with open fireplace. Ryad Irene Pascal
Located a few minutes beyond the core of Marrakesh, this 5 bedroom home is peaceful and cozy – ideal for a large family or group of friends. The riyad is finished in cool, traditional colors and will keep you cool with air-conditioned bedrooms. The shaded terrace with loungers is the perfect spot to explore the city with your eyes before heading out on foot. View details.

Ryad Adrien
Live like a local Marrakeshi at Ryad Adrien, a 5 bedroom home in the center of the city. A swimming pool – heated in the winter and refreshing in the summer – and inner courtyard anchors the rest of the riyad, which includes a tented lounge area strewn with throw pillows. View details.

Ryad Boukcha
In the heart of the old town, Ryad Boukcha is a 4 bedroom villa with attitude. The riyad’s traditional tiling and pillar decoration, ornate and dazzling, gives you the sense of being in another world. While western touches here and there – wireless internet access, a pool table – tempers the exoticness of it all, there’s no mistaking where you are when relaxing in your very own hammam (or Turkish bath). JOY OF JULY

Already a city alive with energy, Marrakesh positively throbs during the month of July when a number of festivals keep people partying and dancing in the streets. On the 9th, a children’s festival celebrates the city’s youngest residents, while the king gets his due on the 30th with an event-filled day commemorating his coronation.
