Change of Scenery: Yachting Season Heats Up
Climb Aboard a Private Luxury Yacht
By Heather Whipps
Yachting in the Caribbean is a tradition for many, from serious sailors to families just looking for something different. They’re drawn back by the idea of visiting many destinations in one trip, all aboard a ship that’s like a comfortable, floating extension of home. Sea toys and luxurious extras make the adventure that much better.
It’s only September, but now is the time to start thinking about those mid-winter yacht excursions. Booking early not only lets you secure the yacht that’s right for you, but gives you plenty of time to plan your itinerary, menus, activities, even special detours. Remember that yachts must be booked for a minimum of one week. The weekly rates you’ll see usually do not include a 15% provisioning allowance for all the food and beverages your crew will prepare on board, or their gratuity (that’s at your discretion).
We’re here to answer any questions you might have about yachting and offer you these suggestions for the upcoming winter season in the Caribbean. If you miss that, don’t worry: these yachts are still around come springtime…just across the pond in the Mediterranean!

Altitude
Elegant wood paneling decks the halls of this elegant yacht, which has space for twelve guests in six cabins. Altitude has a reputation for offering top-notch service and has plenty of room for lounging, dining and entertaining outside on its vast sundeck.

Perfect Persuasion
This yacht is sleek and refined, but still has a sense of fun about her with lots of water toys and four additional water craft. There is space for ten guests in five cabins, who are tended to by a crew of eleven. A recent refurbishment added touches of onyx and mahogany.

Impulsive
Impulsive oozes power and performance from her nearly 120 feet. The yacht offers accommodation for six in three cabins, and features a main saloon with bar opening onto the sundeck. Two wave runners will keep guests happy when at anchor.

African Queen D
A yacht fit for royalty, seven-passenger African Queen D packs a lot of class across its 95 feet. Her ten-seater dining table, made of burl wood and inlaid with marble, is a signature feature.
No Shoehorn Required!
There’s a common misconception that yachts are a cramped and uninviting way to travel. Well, we’ve seen them and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Yachts, even those with just two to three cabins, are designed by professionals to provide as much living space as possible. Plus...the ocean is your backyard! |
