If your dream Tuscan vacation is a rural idyll, Casale di Sant' Andrea may be your dream come true. Tucked into the hills between Cortona and Mercatale, the seven-bedroom stone house has stunning views of the countryside, inviting outdoor spaces and luxurious, welcoming interiors. Though it’s located on 84 acres of private land, it’s within day-trip distance of several major towns in Tuscany and Umbria.

Take time to stroll the grounds, or pack a picnic for a meal in the olive groves. Enjoy the views from the infinity pool or a nap in the neoclassical pergola on the pool deck. You’ll have exclusive use of the property’s tennis court, as well as a grill and seating area for outdoor dining. Call up a map of the area on the villa’s Wi-Fi, then see which castles you can spot on the surrounding hilltops.

The villa’s gracious interiors are furnished in cheerful provincial style, with white walls, terracotta floors and original fireplaces surrounded by slipcovered sofas, blue and white accents and traditional dark-wood side tables. The bright eat-in kitchen boasts a long farmhouse-style table, slipcovered chairs and fresh white cabinets, plus practical perks like an espresso machine and dishwasher.

You’ll find the same rustic charm in the seven bedrooms at Casale di Sant' Andrea. There are four bedrooms with double beds; two have en-suite bathrooms, and two have access to bathrooms. There’s one bedroom in which two twin beds have been combined to form a king, with bathroom, and one bedroom with two twin beds and en-suite bathroom. The library can be turned into a bedroom with a double bed.

There’s plenty to explore in the area around Casale di Sant' Andrea. A shopping center and tennis court in Mercatale are 5 miles away, and the Umbertide grocery store is about 7 miles away. For a train station and more shopping, head to Cortona, 15 miles away, and the airport in Perugia is 22 miles away. Montepulciano and Arezzo, 34 miles away, are worth a trip, as is Assisi, 40 miles away. If you’d like to do some city sightseeing, make the 60-mile drive to Siena.
